Introductions

Welcome to a world of whimsical felted creations! I have been drawing and painting for most of my life but a visit from a friend in 2018 introduced me to a whole new way of creating with wool and the world of needle felting.

Living in Atlantic Canada, I am continually inspired by the natural landscape around me, especially the animal kingdom! I started out creating Christmas felted tree ornaments. But as I have practiced my craft and used my artistic skills in design, my work has expanded. Along with shelf art and hanging art, I am building my collection to include one of a kind felted sculptures combined with found objects in nature.

I love to create. It is what I was designed to do! My products are well constructed as well as artistic. They provide unique and beautiful art pieces for your home or as gifts for the special people in your life.

A little bit about Felting.

All creatures here are made from wool fibres in a form called roving. When the wool comes off a sheep or lamb, it’s cleaned and combed out on a machine that lays the fibres in the same direction that form long narrow ropes of wool.

They are dyed in colours that I use to “paint” with or as top coat for 3 dimensional pieces. The under body of the creations are made from a core wool that is not dyed and has a wonderful texture, perfect for the 3D sculptures.

It is all put together with a needle or group of needles about three inches long. Each needle is a triangle shape and each side has barbs that catch on the wool fibres and pull them together. It’s a long process of stabbing and sculpting to bring to life all that you see!
